Cilji in kompetence:
Objectives and competences:

Cilj predmeta je, da študent pridobi osnovno znanje molekularne in celične biologije lipidnih kapljic. Dobil bo najnovejša znanja o vlogi teh dinamičnih organelov v celici, o njihovih interakcijah z drugimi organeli in celičnimi procesi, ter vlogi pri razvoju bolezni. Študent se bo prav tako seznanil s specifičnimi metodološkimi pristopi za preučevanje lipidnih kapljic. Uporabljal bo najnovejšo tujo strokovno literaturo, s povdarkom na kritični analizi znanstvenih objav.

Specifične kompetence:
- študent pridobi nujno predznanje za raziskovalno delo na področju lipidov, lipidnega metabolizma in lipidnih kapljic v celičnem in molekularnobiološkem laboratoriju.

Splošne kompetence:
- razumevanje raziskovalnih metod in postopkov, razvoj kritične in samokritične presoje,
- sposobnost prenosa znanja v praksi,
- razvoj komunikacijskih sposobnosti in spretnosti, posebej komunikacije v mednarodnem okolju,
- kooperativnost, delo v skupini in tudi v mednarodnem okolju.

The goal of the course is for the student to acquire the basics of molecular and cellular biology of lipid droplets. The student will gain the latest knowledge on the role of these dynamic organelles in the cell, their interactions with other organelles and cellular processes, as well as their role in disease development. The student will also become familiar with specific methodological approaches for studying lipid droplets and will use the latest research literature, with an emphasis on critical analysis of scientific publications.

Specific competencies:
- The student will acquire the necessary background for research work in the field of lipids, lipid metabolism, and lipid droplets in a cellular and molecular biology laboratory.

General competencies:
- Understanding of research methods and procedures, development of critical and self-critical assessment,
- Ability to transfer knowledge into practice,
- Development of communication skills and proficiency, especially communication in an international environment,
- Cooperation, working in a group, and working in an international environment.

Poznavanje in razumevanje osnov molekularne in celične biologije lipidov in lipidnih kapljic.
Poznavanje in razumevanje različnih raziskovalnih metod in specifičnih zahtev pri delu z lipidi in lipidnimi kapljicami.
Poznavanje in razumevanje osnov nekaterih bolezni povezanih z lipidi.

Knowledge and understanding of basic molecular and cell biology of lipids and lipid droplets.
Knowledge and understanding of different research approaches and specific requirements for lipid and lipid droplet research.
Knowledge and understanding of the hallmark characteristics of most common lipid-related diseases.
