Are you ready to explore the complex world of critical raw materials and sustainable mining? Join us in Slovenia for a week-long immersive Summer School, where you will dive into expert-led lectures, hands-on learning, and exclusive field visits.

Explore the role of critical raw materials in the green and digital transition, including their strategic significance, sourcing challenges, and sustainability issues like the circular economy, biological reclamation, and responsible resource management. Gain a holistic perspective on the economic, social, and environmental impacts of raw material exploitation.

Summer School Highlights:

  • Expert Lectures from the University of Lorraine, Jožef Stefan Institute, and the University of Belgrade.
  • Collaborative Practical Work in interdisciplinary groups.
  • Field Visit to a mining site for real-world insights.

Who Can Apply?

Master’s and PhD students from STEM, political sciences, social sciences, and related fields. The program promotes collaborative learning and interdisciplinary problem-solving.

Participation & Costs:

  • 35 available places
  • Full tuition waiver, accommodation, lunches, and bus transfers from Ljubljana to Postojna are covered.
  • Travel grants for top selected international participants.

Draft Program:

  • June 30: Arrival in Ljubljana, bus transfer to Postojna.
  • July 1-2: Interactive seminars and workshops.
  • July 3: Visit to Idrija Mercury Mine and underground museum.
  • July 4: Departure or extra morning activity.
