16th IPS Students' Conference (IPSSC)

From 29 to 31 May 2024 the Marine Biology Station (NIB) in Piran hosted the 16th IPS Students' Conference (IPPSC), this year ever so special because it also marked the 20th anniversary of the Jožef Stefan International Postgraduate School under the slogan "Two Decades of Discovery: Advancing Science and Solutions".
At the conference, students had the opportunity to present their research work to a broader audience, while the programme was enriched also by talks from successful lecturers from different fields, and social events.
Out of all the participants, the expert committee composed of eight members selected four best contributions. The awards were presented to:
- Abdur Rehman Anwar (NANO): Edible lasers,
- Blaž Bohinc (ECO): Increasing Efficiency of Biophotoelectrochemical Processes by Structuring Biofilms of Aerobic Phototrophic Microorganisms,
- Ivana Goričan (ST): Pb(Fe0.5Nb0.5)O3–BiFeO3 ceramics and thick films for energy storage applications,
- Nina Omejc (ICT): Assessing time-resolved cortico-muscular coupling using dynamical Bayesian inference.
And the audience award went to:
- Katarina Tomić (NANO): Neuropeptide receptor Y as potential target for specific cancer treatment.
