The integration of the educational programme into the research activity of Jožef Stefan Institute is shown in the research programmes which can be summarized as follows:
- Intelligent Systems and Robotics (ISR) are advanced information sciences and technologies including intelligent systems, ambient intelligence, business intelligence, evolutionary computation, cognitive sciences, humanoid robotics, computer vision,
controlling robots and systems. These are key information society technologies enabling knowledgebased society. - Knowledge Technologies (KT) are advanced information technologies which include the following areas: data analysis (data, text, web and multimedia mining), human language technologies, semantic web, knowledge management, decision support, as
well as multiobjective optimisation and design. - Advanced Internet Technologies are advanced information technologies which include the whole area of internet technologies, including transmission systems and architectures, governance, design, internetworking and management of internet networks, internet applications such as multimedia, web technologies and solutions, searching engines, voice over IP, and advanced web applications. Trends, directions and applications in the field of internet technologies, e.g. e-business, e-learning, e-health, e-government, etc., will also be presented, as well as security and privacy provision mechanisms.
- Computer Structures and Systems provide a comprehensive coverage of the following fields: the field of reconfigurable computing including reconfigurable architectures, design methods and applications, knowledge about architectural mechanisms and implementation techniques for exploiting fine- and coarse-grained parallelism within microprocessors, computer
systems, laying stress upon real-time and embedded systems, knowledge on hardware and software codesign, knowledge of embedded system design and knowledge of the state-of-the-art of the field of electronic testing including modern test techniques and design-for-test principles. - Advanced Concepts in Telecommunications are advanced information technologies which include the following areas: advanced optimisation concepts of telecommunication systems, cognitive networks, fixed-mobile convergence, multi-antenna systems, specific operating systems in telecommunications and simulations in telecommunications.
